“Happy Thanksgiving everyone” is what we say to each other today, but do we really know and understand the true meaning of what today is all about? (yea the turkey, pie and football games are great), but it is WAY more that that. Well I can only speak for me, so I will.
To me Thanksgiving means more than 2 words blurted out as we leave work for a long weekend, it means that for one day we should, ready, here we go…GIVE THANKS… for what we have, for the life, health and freedoms we are a able to enjoy, to get up in the morning read the paper, take a walk or simply enjoy a quite cup of coffee knowing that in a few short hours your (our) house will be filled with the sounds of our children and grandson, the smell of a perfectly (I hope) cooking turkey in the oven and reflecting on how lucky we truly are to be able to enjoy such simple things. Thankful we have our health, our family and how lucky we are to enjoy all these things in a country where we are free to do so. We spend too much time thinking about what we don’t have and too little time enjoying what we do have, the things that are REALLY important the things that define who and what we are. This year, please give thanks for the truly important and precious things we sometime take for granted.
This year I am thankful to have had a glimpse into the life (not death) of a young man in Wisconsin that was taken from ALL of us much too early, he showed us what LIVING truly meant, through all the pain and heartache he endured in his young life he showed us what GIVING really meant and I am THANKFUL to have learned about this beautiful persons life because it has made me think much differently about what is really important (yep an old dog can learn new tricks). To his mother Annika and his family, Happy Thanksgiving God Bless.
GO BO!
Happy Thanksgiving little angel….
